Transient Vibes: A Playlist for Transitioning Through Life

Last updated:

Groovy, moody, eclectic. And unpredictable. If the description for our ‘Transient Vibes’ playlist on the official @quaintrevolt Spotify page isn’t clear enough, this is a collection of songs specially curated for the transient times of current. Kicking off with underground R&B singer Natalie Lauren’s lowkey self-love anthem “God Morning,” the first quarter of this tracklist is essential listening for early risers just trying to wrap their heads around the day to come. With fun, multi-cultural follow-ups include the French song “Tout es gore” by Congolese-Belgian artist Lous and The Yakuza followed by the aptly titled “CHILL” by Popcaan, you’ll soon find yourself lost in the shimmery softness of self-acceptance within the 59-minute runtime.

Whenever I listen to a playlist for the first time, I always avoid shuffle and digest the songs in the order in which they are presented. I first pressed play on ‘Transient Vibes’ as I settled in the driver seat for a 5 am highway takeover. By the time I had reached my coffee shop destination I had hit track 5, South Miami band Haute Tension’s “Dano” and I felt so refreshed and energized I debated whether I still needed the coffee.

The rest of the playlist is a luscious shift of moods and sources, some familiar voices like Chole x Halle, Aminé, and Buju Banton. But it’s the roundup of newcomers and unknowns from all across the country such as Tei Shi, Odunsi (The Engine), and Atlanta’s own DaQuashia that add an extra glisten to this tracklist. DaQuashia’s “Unconditional Love” in particular caused me to stop whatever it was I was doing at the time in order to fondly drift into a reflection on the love I have in my life while Jamaican artist Sevana’s “Be Somebody” offers the words of wisdom that I think we all could benefit from during a time of mass uncertainty and hopelessness.

Self-help and self-love are always important but during times like these that’s especially true, but art always seems to find its way to comfort and inspire. Like a giant fluffy blanket from Bed, Bath, and Beyond, our ‘Transient Vibes’ playlist is the hour of encouragement that will not only help you get through your day but also give you that spark of optimism to conquer the next.

Be sure to follow our Quaint Revolt Spotify page to download the rest of our playlist and be on the watch for more to come.
